Privacy, Confidentiality, Security and SafetyImportant Note:
YOUR PASSWORD SECURITY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! All personal information provided to Intervest.co.za will remain confidential and will not be passed on, or sold, to third partieswithout your express permission. Your portfolio information is protected by a usename and password that you choose. Your password is encrypted in our database so that not even our staff can access it. Only people that know your user name and password will be able to access your portfolio details. It is you responsbility to keep your password safe. You can change your password whenever you want (and it is good practice to do this occasionally). Using Intervest.co.za is as safe as if you were to have your own private ATM and far safer than using a credit card in a shop. Our secure site which you access when you LOG IN or register, is completely separate from our public information site and conforms to the highest standards of online security. We use 128-bit encryption and up to date security protocols. You will see a ‘locked padlock’ when you are in the secure parts of our site. Note that it is not necessary to make information on say, unit trusts, that is freely available to everyone, secure. When you open an account, you need to verify your bank account details by signature. Changing your bank account details requires knowing your user name and password as well as your signature. This ensures that the proceeds from any sales can only be deposited in the appropriate bank account. Should an unauthorised person get access to your user name and password, they can attempt to buy unit trusts on your behalf. The transaction can, however, only be processed if it is accompanied by a valid payment i.e. someone cannot incur a liability on your behalf. When purchasing unit trusts, your money is paid into a nominee bank account. Like all linked product companies, this nominee bank account has been set up in accordance with the Financial Services Board’s directives which are designed to protect your investment. This money can only be used for the purpose for which it was designated, i.e. purchasing the unit trusts you specified. You are the legal and beneficial owner of any unit trusts purchased on your behalf. As with all linked product companies, your unit trusts are registered in an independent custodian company, EFS Nominees (Pty) Ltd. This company has been set up in accordance with the requirements of the Financial Services Board. These requirements are designed to safeguard your investments. EFS Nominees (Pty) Ltd. has an independent board of directors. An independent auditor's report, as well as a directors' report, is submitted annually to the FSB. Even in the unlikely event that EFS is liquidated, your ownership will not be affected. |
