About Our FiguresStatistics, performance figures and graphs can be very useful guides to evaluating a fund. However, they can be deduced and presented in an infinite variety of ways. One needs to be aware of the differences between absolute and annualised returns. When comparing graphs one should be aware of the scale of each axis. When looking at performance percentages one needs to know how they are being worked out. Our aim is to keep things simple, yet flexible and useful. Daily Prices and money market yields are sourced directly from the management companies. Usually the last day's prices are updated around 7.30am each morning, and again around noon to pick up any corrections. Performance figures are calculated on a sell-sell basis, with interest and dividend distributions reinvested. They exclude the management company initial fee and our fees. Absolute returns are shown for simplicity. Many sources will rather show annualised returns, which can roughly be viewed as the absolute return divided by the number of years.
Assets and Holdings - We update these after each quarter-end, when funds are obliged to provide this information to the FSB. Most funds also allow this to be publicly available. |
